Question by summer 12343: Does anyone agree that a lot of “designer bags” and other such fashion are boring, bland, and flat out UGLY?!
I’m not saying this out of jealousy or to be condescending. I do own a few designer items myself(gifts from my grandmother) but I just don’t see why people are so eager to have designer stuff, especially purses when there so boring and UGLY. I think Louis Vuitton in the brown is so dull, Gucci bags are ugly, Prada bags are plain, don’t even get me started on that Burberry plaid! Like come on this stuff is hideous looking-Yet people are going in to debt to have these or worse off-buying knockoffs, does anyone else agree that you could find a lot prettier, more colorful, nicer purses in the mall?! And most, for a lot cheaper!!

i know some….most….are soooooo ugly!!!! i wouldn’t take it if someone paid me let alone spend my own money on it.
i think some of them are really cute but you can get a better price for a purse that is cute

Girl, its a state of mind. If you look good you feel good. Yess some of this shit is ridiculously ugly. BUT thats the fashion world.

I agree to some point-’most’ are pretty dang homely but the new Louis Vuitton is rockin’ but don’t see it in my budget over the next 30 years.
i think the same thing that it is stuipd to pay so much for a purse but, i think yah the purse are plain and dull but it is more of a statis thing b/c if you have a prada or whatever you look cool and important and i 100% disagree about them being ugly, i think they are cute i want one when i older

hi there, your right actually. I have been into selfridges etc to look at designer bags and purses and they look as boring as hell. no design or embroidery and they cost something like £399.!!! Are they kidding?
Wouldnt waste my money on a bag, crikey i could do so much more than a bag.

some of them yes i do agree..but most of them are really good looking bags.. and its up to everyones taste. its like exp if u like somethings others may not..thats how it just works..
Do not forget that all look the same. Same pattern and same design in all different sizes. Gucci are not only ugly, but heavy!!

omg yes i completly agree.. i think people dont care what designer bags looks like anymore, they just get it because of the name (look at longchamp bags, theyre horrible looking!! but people get them because of the name)
id definetly rather find a cuter bag than spend a ton of money on an ugly one, just so i can jump on the bandwagon.. ugh!
i think designer stuff is usually cuter an of better quality. but people have different style so your opinion is yours and mine is mine

Absolutely. However, I am a designer handbag lover. I Love all of my LV bags, but I don’t usually get the brown monogram canvas. I have seen lots of “non name brand” handbags that are very cute…I just can’t seem to break my addiction to the label.

Sure, I will admit that I am not really a fan of Louis Vuitton – they are rather blande and boring.
However, to say that Prada bags are ‘plain’ or ugly is rediculous – Prada bags stand out far more than most other bags, because the craftsmanship is incredible, and the designs are understated and sophistocated.

The Burberry plaid is classic, and whether you like it or not – it definately is not hideous. Some people can wear plaid exceedingly well, perhaps you just aren’t one of them.
So- no, I do not agree that you can find ‘prettier, more colorful, nicer purses in the mall’ – especially not on the ‘nicer’ part of that. Designer bags use the best of the best as far as materials, and a whole hell of a lot more time is spent in crafting them.
When you get older, you will realize that the stuff you like now, is childish and immature – I assume you like ‘Juicy Couture’ well, half of their crap looks like it belongs in a dress up box.
I don’t agree at all, I think most of the designer bags are really beautifully designed. I personally love Gucci, I own quite a few authentic pieces and I can tell you, they aren’t ugly. Maybe the ones’s you’ve seen weren’t authentic and that would make them ugly.
I think the bags at the mall are cheap looking. Made out of cheap material in gaudy colors and everyone carries them, i’ll take a designer bag any day.
I HATE the Burberrt plaid! …totally know where you’re coming from on that one. Prada is mostly extremely plain, except their new spring line for women’s shoes which is strikingly original…omg but their sunglasses are hideous! And Chanel……gag….thos black and white purses are the dullest of the dull by far.
Either way there are still some VERY original designers out there, like Heatherette, Marc Jacobs, D&G, A|X (if you’d even consider that designer) is actually kind of good, at least there menswear is compared to that lame as hell Emporio Armani crap.
Oh, also, if you consider Ugg boots designer, yeah those things are called “Uggs” for a reason – they are uggly!!!!!
majority of the price is for the hours spent on the bag. remember they arent being made by slave laborers in china. some louis vuitton trunks take up to 6 months to produce, all by one person. just think, louis vuitton needs to recoop that 6 months of wages in the cost of the product (approx 35,000USD) then the materials (5000USD) then that leaves them little profit. if YOU were to spend that long hand making something, how much would you charge?
