honestly, with out Desaev, Russia was screwed
Dasaev was brilliant, but that shot was amazing and screened by defenders until too late.
I was 18 then and remembered watching this classic the night before my Physics A~level exam………… in the exam all that went through my mind were those two great Brasil goals…. fantastic match and Brasil played like 1970 team .. should have won the 1982 World Cup due to the fantastic football they played.

@cazadordemolinos Completamente de acuerdo contigo en todo lo dicho compatriota, siempre he sentido simpatía por los paises de Europa del Este y creo que los acompañaba la mala suerte en Mundiales, en este Mundial la URRS debió haber llegado minimo a semifinales pero tuvo la mala suerte de que Belgica diera un pésimo partido contra Polonia en la 2a fase y de que Polonia se le cerrara en el encuentro definitorio entre ambos paises, URSS hubiera dado más lucha a Italia en semifinales. Saludos.
@gabisubis Especially against Belgium in 1986, they could have gone at least to the semifinals if it wasn´t for that stupid referee.

@back2themusic There’s no way he could have saw that coming – Falcao’s feint/dummy is genius and Eder’s first touch equally so, then a ferocious strike. The defenders block goalie Rinat Dasayev’s view. Great, great goal. Eder’s chip shot against Alan Rough of Scotland is also amazing.

Brazil had good keepers back then. Nobody accepts the fact that Peres was in the squad, even nowadays.
just like noone accepts the fact Dunga called DONI to the 2010 squad, when there are much better goalkeepers playing in Brazil. Julio Cesar is the best in the world, but there are many better goalkeepers in Brazil than Doni or that guy from Tottenham.
