I remember when my father was deployed to Desert Storm, who said they could not wear her wedding ring. Could act as a mirror, if the sun hit it right and you can attract the attention of the wicked. So I asked my brother to take him. I wonder if it still applies to today’s soldiers.

You can wear them over there. But if it reflects light, you might want to take them off during missions.
Yes, but it is not recommended.
Rings can get caught while a soldier is working and have led to finger amputations. I know some people who wear their ring on the chain with their dogtags instead.
My husband didn’t wear his ring while he was deployed at all.
Well, our fighting grounds now are almost the same a Desert Storm, and like what you said the reflect light, but I don’t think the military would have a problem aslong as your not out in combat.

Inside the wire – I wore the ring.
Outside the wire – I took it off.
lol no, it wasn’t mandatory then, it was a good suggestion, because multiple people have lost fingers because of hoping out of vehicles only to have the ring catch on something, but now pretty much everyone wears gloves when outside the base.
I wore my ring the entire time during my 3 deployments to Iraq. It was never an issue, because when outside of the base gloves were mandatory, and the ring wasn’t visible under the glove.
