Why do lots of cyclists wear their wedding rings on necklaces?

I noticed that more and more to watch professional cycling. . . many of them seem to have their wedding rings on chains around their necks instead of using them on your fingers. Sometimes, they unpack their shirts to kiss the ring you just won a race. Does anyone know why? He must have some aerodynamic advantage, I suppose. . . or perhaps prevent them from getting lost. . . ?

or maybe it brings bad luck if you wear it on your finger

Typicaly your hands do quite a lot while riding a bike shifting and braking. It’s not that uncommon that rings hang up on the levers. It is safer to wear the rings out of the way on a necklace. Rings can also cause pressure builup and great discomfort for some people, especially on longer trips. As for kissing the ring, I would guess it’s a gesture of love for their spouse, saying “thanks for putting up with me” and “I love you and miss you”. A bike racer’s life can be a bit monastic during the season.
